Dr. Baumgartner’s Story

Edward Baumgartner, Jr., MD

Edward Baumgartner, Jr., MD

As a native son of Texas, I attended college at Texas A&M University and came back to Houston to attend medical school in my home town at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. After completing two years of general surgery residency on Chicago’s south side, I made the change to Anesthesiology where I completed a residency and fellowship in Pain Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Pain Medicine was the perfect fit as I found my passion to treat people living with chronic pain where I could also incorporate elements from the various fields of medicine that I trained in to better treat my patients. Although I received incredible training during my time in Chicago, I had a longing to come back home to practice medicine and raise my family with my beautiful wife.

I have practiced in the Houston area for over 6 years and incorporate constant learning into treating the community that I love. I manage most pain conditions, but I have a special interest in spine, nerve related pain and more specifically spinal neuromodulation. Spinal cord stimulators are greatly effective in treating neuropathic pain and help patients achieve the goals of improved functionality and decreasing the need for pain medication.

My goal is to create a practice of excellence where patients are treated as individuals and I will strive to work towards the common goal of giving you a fuller life.
